hey fellas I just picked up a new to me 700 adl in 7mag last night. I wanna load up some amaxs to do some shooting with and I have never played with anything other than bergers. Do I need to load these things up to the lands like the bergers or do they like a little jump better? I'm gunna try retumbo, h1000, 7828 and some imr4350 to start. I'm just not sure about seating these fellas. I also have some berger 180s that I'm gunna load up and try too but thats not a problem. I just havent found anything about seating these amaxs long or short, or do I just need to load em to fit the mag well and let em ride?

Joshua, not sure what you're barrel length is, but the 1000 will work best if you have a 26 inch barrel. As far as the OAL, I am shooting mine at 3.336, OAL. If your barrel is 24 inches, the 7828 will work fine, and you will get good velocity as well. Don't get caught up in the thought that you HAVE to use a mag primer in a 7 mag either. I have gotten my best accuracy in a seven mag using a STD primer, and namely a WLR Winchester primer.
You will find the 162 A Max to be a very accurate bullet. My sons M70 shoots sub 1/2 inch groups with his, and they will shoot 1/4 minute grips in my 700P, and about 3/8 groups in my 700LSS. Have fun, and be safe.

Thanks, I just got my shell holder in last night and got some new hornady brass sized and ready to load up. I might just start with the 7828. I can't recall if the barrel is a 24 or 26" right off hand, I'll look later, but I think its a 26.

I have a few different powders to try and remington 9.5s and 9.5Ms and cci 200 and 250s(can't find winchester primers around here). Im gunna start with the 250 primers.

I was gunna just on doing a pillar bed/glass bed on the rifle last night and let the stock cure and have the loads ready to go for saturday but I need a few extra things first so thats a no go. I'll put a stock on it later but I wanted to try a pillar bed on the factory one myself. I did a skim bed on an H-s precision but it didnt come out as good looking as I wanted but I was in a big hurry with it... I'll grind it all out and do it again one day.
