Is it worth spening $$$ on a picatinny rail with an integrrated recoil lug for a 308 win build or would a more reasonably priced rail like one from EGW be adequate for that caliber?

The recoil lug built into the rail is not necessarily needed on a 308. Based on the material used, there are several good options out there that are better than the standard EGW though. The heavy duty version of the EGW is the better choice. Other choices of aluminum rails are Talley, and TPS. All are in the $50-$60 range and made from 7000 series aluminum alloy instead of the 6000 series used for the standard EGW.
