pet loads for .223

dogdinger,
Haven't loaded using the 60 & 64gn pills. I have used the 69gn SMK alot in a 1-9" bolt gun. I used 25gn of H4895 with Remingtong 6.5 primers. Accuracy ran in the .2's and .3's. Velocity averaged 3004fps from 24" barrel. JohnnyK.

60 gr Hornady Vmax and hp works well depending on the weapon with
26gr BLC2 and WSR primers shoots a inch or less in most
223's bolt and semi auto.
64gr would look at 63 seirra or the 65 should be go to go there......
Planning on looking at 64 in the future.........

Dogdinger, 60 gr vmax, 25gr h-4895, cci400 primer out or a 1/8 rra ar15 = one ragged hole at 100, sub 1/2 @ 200 and 300. hope this helps

I was recently forced to try H322 in my AR's because it was the only powder available locally that I could load into my .223's.

I am pleasantly surprised with the results. I get good velocity and accuracy with this powder. Many times it's either great accuracy, or it's great velocity, but not both. The 322 seems to provide both.

I have previously had success with Benchmark, BLC-2, Accurate 2015, and H335. They all seem to shoot well. The 2015 shoots really well and it usually costs a bit less than the others.

i use 24.4 gr of h335 with a 60 varmint bullet from Sierra. it is a really cheap bullet that totally kills dogs out to 300 yards. it will shoot 1/2 moa at 100 yrds
my barrel is 1-8 twist but it is also 24" long.
