Just got back from my New Mexico Oryx hunt. Took this beautiful 38" bull on the first day. Chased this guy all day and was able to close the deal with a 530yd shot from my Fierce 300WM. The load was 75gr RL-26, 200gr Federal TLR bullet at 3170fps. Bullet passed completely thru and he dropped in his tracks. I have always wanted to do this hunt ever since I found out there was a huntable population in New Mexico. Now I can check this one off my bucket list hunts.View attachment 279586

deaddownrang, I have applied twice for the Oryx hunt. Both times with a Outfitter. Last year applied for On-range tags and did not get drawn.
I applied this year with a different Outfitter. Love of the Hunt Outfitters (LOH) specializes in off-range Oryx hunts. The On-range hunts are less than 10% success for non-residents. The Off-range hunts with a Outfitter are closer to 60%. I highly recommend LOH Outfitters for this hunt. My Guide Brendon was born and raised in that area of New Mexico, he has been guiding hunters since he was 12. We were on Oryx the morning of opening day. He hunts hard, we pursued the same group all day. Brendon was able to predict where the group would head to in the afternoon and got close enough for a good shot and I was able to close the deal.
