My dad and I went out for a quick morning hunt after I got back from my mule deer hunt in eastern oregon. We fought the fog to start the morning then moved up a canyon a few miles to glass where the fog had already burnt off. I spotted a doe right away and as soon as I put the spotting scope on it I spotted the buck bedded under a rock at 1185 yds. I have practiced in the same canyon on rocks within 40 yds of where the buck was bedded. My dad laid down on the rifle and I had him dry fire a couple times, and he said he felt good on the trigger squeeze. The first shot was just under the buck while bedded. It made him stand up was all. I had him make a small adjustment and on the second shot, the buck took a step while the bullet was in the air causing the hit to be about the back of the ribs. He rolled the bolt and took a third shot. The last hit was right on the front of the shoulder and base of the neck just under the spine dropping him hard. The pack was a little rough but I can't wait to get to do it again for him.
