Finally getting ready to order MY rifle.It will be a 22 inch 30/06ai. I have two questions. #1 Haven't decided on twist yet. I doubt I will ever run anything over a 212 or so bullet. Will probably run 180 accubond,hammer,or tsx for nearly everything. Should I stick with a 1&10 twist or go 1&9? The lightest I will run is 165. Pro and cons of twist?
#2. The Smith told me he could put the safety on the right side for me (left hand action) but it wouldn't lock the bolt. Does anybody have any experience with a non locking bolt while hunting? Doubt it would ever cause a problem while in my hands but I have started using trekking poles in rough country so I actually use my sling more now and am worried about knocking the bolt open in thick stuff while slung.
