Great rifle! The old 700 varmint 308's and the M70 varmint or bull barrel rifles of the 60s 70s were really good high quality factory LRH rifles. A lot NICER than some of the pink camo canoe paddles we so frequently see on here, and soo much nicer than the black plastic junk all the factories put out now in effort to sell cheap guns cheaper. COngrats.

The older Remington 700 have always been of interest to me. A very graceful rifle and certainly a quality firearm.

That does bring up an interesting questions. What year does everyone believe the quality of the 700's change to what they are today. I am not saying that the 700's are not a quality gun today. I have several and wouldn't sell them anytime soon. However most people do believe the quality has changed with these rifles.
