Old primers

I have this old box of primers i picked up for fun, i was curious if anyone knew the age or approximate age of production.

I would be curious about this also. I have a few of the 100 piece boxes that are marked like that. They would be older than the mid 70's.

Good to know. I bought them, with a thought of "well these might not be any good, but the box is cool".

Late 60's to mid 70's I would presume. I've seen the original 1950's boxes and yours are certainly newer than that. I have some and they go bang very well.

FYI- CCI was started in 1951 by Dick Speer, brother of Vernon who had the bullet company.

I bought this same packaging March 1985 . I'm still using them , wish I'd bought more at that price .

I've got 2500 ish of those that my dad bought back in the 80' s I'm guessing . It was a solid 3000 but been using them up shooting the last year or so . So far so good all have been able to ignite the charge just fine

He are some of mine from the early '80's. I believe that in observing the 100 primer box.....yours are older than mine.

My individual 100 ct. boxes are of same design/color as the 1000 ct container!

Maybe I should start shooting the small stuff again, to burn some of these up! memtb

What do you consider small stuff? These should be good for 270 win right?

Oh yeah.....no problem with the 270! I was primarily speaking about the pistol primers.....I haven't loaded anything with small pistol in many years. And don't shoot much small rifle primer stuff! Seems like what little shooting I do, has ended up being fairly specialized! Heck....I'm running WW Large Rifle Magnum primers in my pistol! memtb

What bothers me is I bought some of the primers new to try them in my guns back then.

here is a couple old boxes of primers . if I remember right the winchester box with the big red W is older than the winchester box with orange in the logo . I got a Lyman reloading kit for Christmas 1976 , so these boxes are since then .

I found an older 1000ct box of CCI 200 exactly like that recently and fired about 700 so far and all fired perfectly fine with same accuracy as my newer blue box CCI 200 primers.
