Just received 6.5 SAUM brass from Unknowns Munitions; the newest lot from ADG. I haven’t taken any measurements to verify consistency but first thing out of the box I noticed the flash holes are not centered. On the fence how I feel about this with performance but I am unhappy about paying top dollar for brass and the flash holes are not centered. Anyone else have this on their brass? Thoughts about performance? Personal opinion?

My guess is it won’t affect the performance or accuracy of your rounds, but I’d always have that question in my mind if I was having difficult finding a load. I’d call ADG to discuss it with them. I’m betting they will send you new brass.
I’m with you on performance since it will still ignite just fine and powder will always sit in the bottom of the case in the chamber but was surprised. Will definitely call them, they have always been great with customer service.

I just started working on 100 28 Nosler cases from ADG and found a couple out of 100 that were slightly off center…..
Does anyone know how ADG puts the primer hole in their brass?? Drilled or punched..???

I can’t say exactly but I looked at 10ish in the first box then opened another and probably looked at 5 in that one, 100% of them were comparable to the photos. I can look at all of them if you would like?

All of mine have always appeared drilled.

No that’s ok. I just was wondering. It makes sense if they are drilling them and not center drilling or spot drilling them first or perhaps one cutting flute on their drill may have chipped if they are using a split point, self centering drill……

I’d certainly make them aware of the situation. Unless it’s an extreme amount off center I doubt you’ll see any performance issues BUT when you are paying top dollar for a premium product you want it right…..
I was in the machining business for 40 years and always welcomed feedback from my customers. If we were doing something that was “acceptable” to the customer but not “ideal” I always wanted to know so I could examine and we could refine our processes….
