OPEC has the monopoly and controls the oil market they just recently called a meeting to reduce oil production to keep the price up. As a matter of fact the gas prices at the pump in Saudia Arabia are under one dollar a gallon, I got this information from a pilot friend that was over there this past summer.
One campaign promiss during the congressional election two years ago was to lower gas prices, unfulfilled, they were to busy doing nothing but getting contributions from Fannie May and Freddie Mac. Bush called on congress to lower the the federal tax on gas congress did nothing.
The Presidential powers as granted in Article II of the Constitution are as follows:
Powers of the President
+ Serve as commander in chief of all U.S. armed forces
+ Commission officers of the armed forces
+ Grant pardons and reprieves from Federal offenses (except impeachments)
+ Convene special sessions of Congress
+ Receive foreign ambassadors
+ Take care that Federal laws are faithfully executed
+ Wield the "executive power"
+ Appoint officials to lesser offices
Powers of the President Shared With the Senate
+ Make treaties
+ Appoint ambassadors, judges, and higher officials Powers of the President Shared With Congress as a Whole
+ Approve legislation
The Congress writes the legislation it is radified in the Senate sent back to Congress and then it is sent to the President where he signs or vetos it.
A veto can be overridden with a 2/3 majority in the house and senate but that is very seldom done, only about 100 times since 1789.
I'm sure that 99% of the members of this fine forum know this information, but I'm afriad most of the John Q public does not.
Senators are elected for six year terms the Congressmen for two. Strom Thumond was elected and took office in the Senate in Jan 1954 to Jan 2003 he was just about six months past his 100th birthday. Robert Byrd has been in the Senate since 1959, Christoher Dodd was in Congress from 1975 to 1981 and then the Senate until now, and Barney Frank has been in the Congress since 1981.
Term limits? They may or may not be the answer, we would lose good people like Joe Lieberman. We have to hold our elected officials feet to the fire. We fired the likes of Nixon, Rostenkowski and Cunningham we can sure fire and prosecute the likes of Dodd and Frank if they committed any crimes or ethics violations just like we did to ENRON's CEO.

Thats because most people have no idea what Marxists and Fascists are, other than thinking exactly what you just said. Fascism and conservatism are nothing alike, liberalism and socialism are basically one in the same, but Obama has gone beyond liberalism with many of his stated ideas and associations....he is a Marxist.
