The 338 PRO ran into pressure at 102 gr of Reloder 33 at 2956 fps with the 300 gr OTM bullets (tight bolt lift), I backed down a couple to 100 gr and an 18 round ave. resulted in 2860 fps, the bullets were not coated in that ladder test but will be revisiting that 100 gr RL33 charge with WS2 coated bullets next time, ammo was loaded to function in the 3.850" Accurate Mags at 3.725" coal

Should have clarified that the 285 Gr ELD Match bullet pressured out with 105 gr RL33 at 3050 fps , backing down two gr it runs at 2982 fps for a 3 shot average in my limited test shooting with the 285 gr ELDM, it shot pretty darn good at 100 yards at mag seating depth of 3.725"

Water capacity of 33 Nosler is less than either the 340 Weatherby or its case capacity twin the 338/375 Ruger. So unless you use a longer barrel or some magical powder you cannot expect more velocity than those two chamberings.

Unless the 33 Nosler case can survive higher operating pressures. And it probably can, compared to Hornady or Weatherby brass.

Nice, and thanks for the additional details. I currently load 105.3gr RL33 with 300gr OTMs in my 338 Rogue for MV of 2925fps @ ~70*F. COAL is 3.97" My barrel length is 28" - Bartlein. Barrel is nitrided and bullets are HBN coated.

My load is at near maximum pressure to preserve the Lapua casing primer pocket life. I ran them up to 3015fps with a 107.0gr charge of RL 33 @ 70*F while searching for max pressure, but that casing head expanded 0.001" and I decided that was too much pressure. 105.3gr preserves primer pockets.

Just ordered the 275gr 338 Badlands Precision bulldozer bullet. That's their longest bullet my 10-twist barrel will stabilize. They recommend 9-twist for this bullet, but my calculations indicate I should get by at 10-twist for load development at 100' Elevation. And no stability problems whatsoever at the 3,600' Elevation where I typically hunt.

I don't consider this excessive hijacking. The OP was looking for a 338 cartridge producing higher MV. We've added a couple more for consideration...

The 338 Norma Mag has 12 gr more case h20 capacity over the 33 Nosler in a case length only .032" longer,

the beefier 338 Norma case when improved adds an additional 10 gr and drives the 325 gr Chinchaga bullets at 2725 fps, 300 gr Berger OTM at 2860 fps, 285 gr ELD Match at 3050 fps, and the 265 gr Barnes LRX at 3100 fps
