Hi, I am considering trying the H1000 powder in my 300 WSM 28" barrel using the 165 gr. accubond. Has anyone tried using this slow burning powder in the 300 wsm before and if so what was your experience with it? Thanks

A visit to the Hodgdon Website:

http://www.hodgdon.com/data/rifle/300winshortmag.php#top

shows that a bit faster powders are more suitable for the 165 gr bullet, which is (in my opinion) a bit light for the 300WSM (unless, for example- you are hunting varmints at close-to-medium ranges, and want to explode stuff)

H1000 doesn't give the best velocities for the bullet weight until you get to at least a 200 gr bullet.

Personally, I like to use the heaviest bullet that shoots well, they tend to have flatter trajectories and deliver more energy on target.
