It isn't only Utah. Hunted early elk season and late mule deer season in Nevada in an area where we have always seen lots of activity. This year we had two elk tags and four mule deer tags and were only able to fill one mule deer tag. The mule deer was the fattest game animal I have ever seen. One inch of fat on the belly.
I believe that the late winter storms were very hard on the game animals.
