The .300WM just because it works under most hunting conditions that any newbie will run into. Or avg hunter like myself. I know loaded with 200 AB at 2950, it will thump the hell of it.

There is nothing "wrong" with the 300WM, other than the belt being obsolete. It most certainly still works, very well in fact. The point is, the 300 RUM works just a tad better in every department. It shoots a bit faster, uses the same bullets, the cases last a bit longer and it's just as accurate. I certainly wouldn't sell my WM just to have a RUM! I only recommend the RUM to folks who don't yet have their rifle bought and paid for.
