newby from New Plymouth idaho

Im new to long range shooting but I built up a 223 remington svvf for whislepigs, That I couldnt hit the broadside of a barn from inside with. I finally started going out to the range and have been shooting it and realized it was all operator failure. Its a sweet little rifle but I would like to build a gun on an remington 700 long action I have. I havent decided caliber so I joined here to seek advice.
