Had a issue with a new rifle during cleaning

before I post to the wrong area not sure where to ask the questions

Here is my issue, New MRC rifle, stainless X3. Did my normal break in process and cleaning procedure I have been doing for 20+ plus years and after the 5th shot and cleaning my bore became jet black. Does not appears to be etched.

My process is as follows:
75/25 ratio of Kroil/hoppes Patch and nylon bore brush until clean
Sweets 7 a few patch and until no more blue is noticed
Finish with one patch of Shooters choice FP10

Never had this happen before

any help or suggestions would be appreicated

Thank you in advance

Welcome!
Probably a reaction to the ammonia in the Sweets. Maybe you left it in too long or it reacted to the Hoppes. It can certainly damage the bore if you don't get it deactivated pretty quick. I personally, would not use Sweets or any ammonia based solvent.

If it is neutralized, you might try JB bore polish and some elbow grease until it cleans. I've not heard of this issue with cleaners reacting like this. It almost sounds like the chemical reaction created black oxide. Like cold blue.....

Thank you everyone
Any thoughts on KG products ?

was thinking about changing my complete set up for cleaning
