Anyone who actually believes a wall will stop the drug trade is the one who believes in fairy tales. A wall will have approximately the same effect as putting Trump on that mountain in South Dakota.

You said it right in one of your previous posts- the cartels are big business and will stop at nothing to bring their goods here. A wall will be but an inconvenience for them.

If you think we need a wall, answer me this- what happened to illegal immigration when Trump got elected?
It went to historic lows.
Why?
Because it was clear that the United States was no longer going to welcome all who came here illegally- showering them with money, a free education, a place to stay, etc.
Obama made it clear to the world that we would do that for all illegals, but as soon as Trump was elected the flow of illegals slowed to a trickle.

Therein lies the reality of what brings them here. The Liberals want them here to boost their voters, and they use OUR money to do it.

We don't need a wall, but even I would get behind building it if they would take all the Federal money that is going to the sanctuary cities and states and funnel it into a wall. Doing so would have the same effect as electing Trump initially did- it would show all those who want to come here for a handout that there is no free ride so most would stay home.

I agree with you on the fact that illegals are a huge problem. In my opinion, taking out a loan to feed, house, and educate them is a horrendous idea but it is what we currently do. Take the money from them and put it into a wall and I'll get behind it because at that point, you've already put a huge dent in the flow.

Other than that, it would be just as effective as chiseling Trumps likeness into a rock at Mt Rushmore.

Illegal immigration continues to be a threat to the US. The wall will not solve the problem but, is an important component in further deterring immigrants.
Call it a fence if you like, it is needed. If you don't know anyone in EL Paso or on the border in Texas, you should make an effort to get to know them and the struggle.

So, I'm confused, your entire post is against a wall but, you would support it if it fits your terms. Which is it? Do we need it or not?
The safety of our Country and border is paramount along with the officers protecting it.
I have a challenge for you, try and convince any one man or woman that protects our borders or a border town citizen that a security wall or fence isn't needed.
Go.

I somehow missed this until tonight.

The Soviet socialists turned their empire into a huge prison camp, and prisons need walls to keep in the inmates, or else they will all take off. So their motivation was unarguably to keep people from escaping.

If we build a wall it is to protect our boundaries and keep invaders OUT, not to wall anyone in (in fact they are free and welcome to go).

There is an incomparable difference between the two motivations.

I think MT pockets sees the same problem as we do he just has a different solution to it. As I understand it he is looking at cutting them off from freebees here in the US (which is an important component in solving the problem). But if you talk to many of the land owners in AZ and TX they have expressed, and still do, a desire for a barrier of sorts. A barrier is needed but it only solves a part of the problem and does not address the issue of illegals using seaports or other means to gain access. If one has a barrier, and then cuts the illegals off from all the free stuff that could work. I would take it a step further and make it mandatory for non citizens to prove that they are here legally to access schools, hospitals, DMV, banks etc. Increasing the number of ICE agents and penalizing anyone that uses illegal immigrant labor would help as well.
 
I totally agree with you but don't quite understand his views. I have family that lives there in Texas and they see all kinds of things happening because of them walking right in. Ms13 drugs ECT.

You hit my opinion on the head.
I dont see a need for this country to take out another loan to build a wall if the freebies that motivate them into coming still exist.
Take away the freebies (and any Fed money given to states/cities who insist on being sanctuaries) and use that money to pay for the wall.
When the Feds wanted to force the states into seatbelt laws, what did they do? They withheld highway funding. Do the same with the illegals- "You want to harbor illegals, we'll keep our money and pay for our wall."
I don't live near the southern border so I may be ignorant of the need but I do know that spending a bunch of money to build a wall without taking away the reasons they think they need to be here is a waste of money.

I could agree more with what your saying about the freebies. And I think there are alot of wasteful political arrangements that are just that waste. We shouldn't be giving them ragheads anything. They hate us and would like Nothing better than to kill every last one of us. But we keep funneling money to them. The dems. Are trying to get a huge voter base. Nothing is for free...

They are the enemies that our constitution spoke of foreign and domestic terrorism.... Hope people aren't duped by them, and stand up for the second amendment. Our God given rights. This is just the start of registration of the guns as they will say that they need to to see if people are breaking the law. It will also make people turn on their fellow citizens. We are heading towards confiscation of guns. The wolves are surrounding the flock. Now where are the sheep dogs? Hopefully everyone here on this forum are the sheep dogs. they are all foreign agents, bought and paid for.

meaning they are furthering the agenda of a non-US association that is not a foreign government.
