New 6.5X284

Well, I'm shouting a 130 Accubond .020 off the lands over 51.4 grains of H4831sc. I got in a little bit of a pressure situation trying to run it up to 53.5 grains, which is the old Nosler published max (2007). This was too high!!

I also had good success at 52.3 grains (see avatar) but ultimately backed off to 1/10th grain under the new published max of 51.5. It really shot good up high but not worth the potential consequences IMHO. I'm sure you'll get yours shooting well. Proceed with caution.

Thank you all for the advice. Neck in chamber is .299 and will use bushing die to bring brass necks down to .293. My loaded neck diameter should be .296 afterwards.

I use N-165, with BR2 primers loaded in Lapua Brass, throwing 140 Berger VLD's out of the tube. I have a SD of 6 with this combination. The next is H4350, same Brass and Primers, but I switch to 142 SMK's for this load. My results have been the SMK's seem to be slightly better to 600 yards and the Bergers are better from 600 to 1,000 yards.

You're going to be a little tight on clearance. 3k of total neck space is considered tight neck and more common in benchrest world. I doubt you'll be able to get a bullet back into a fired case, usually 4k minimum is my preference. To little room for expansion can lead to early psi signs.

Are you saying I may have to turn the necks?
