Hello all, I am new to the LRH forum and have a 264 WM Bullberry barrel on the way for my Encore, I have brass, Fed 215M primers, 120 TTSX, 127 LRX, N570, 24N41 and H1000 on hand, also looking hard for some RL33. Any starting point loads, I have been reloading for 35 years but this is my first 264 and not much load info out there for the newer powders.
Thanks in advance
Aaron

The 264 can really be woken up using Retumbo, N565/570, RE33 and H50BMG.
I am still developing loads with H50BMG and it is looking promising with 156g class bullets.
H1000 would be the fastest powder I would use with bullets 129/130g and heavier, it is a great accuracy powder, not the fastest though.
Oh, and welcome to the forum.

Cheers.

I'm burning IMR7828SSC in my 264 win mag behind 130 gr swift sciroccos, and it'll print 3/4" groups about as long as the shooter can, which means some days hardly at all, and other days, about all day. That powder burns great in the 264.

Reloader 33 delivers over 3400 fps with the Barnes 120gr TSX/TTSX. in my 24" bbl 264. VV24N41 delivers 3229 fps from my Win 70 26" Bbl with 140gr bullets like the Nosler 140gr AB. . For 100gr bullets you can't beat IMR 7828, 3700+ fps, 26" bbl. . . I have been loading for & shooting the 264 since 1964. Have taken an abundance of mature mule deer & elk. It is an outstanding cartridge IMO.

What kind of luck have you had with N570 using the lighter bullets, I have a 260 REM that my daughter shoots and would like to stay with a common bullet?

Hespco, have you shot the 120 gr TTSX with N570 or 24N41? My daughter shoots a 260 REM with the 120 gr TTSX and I would like to stay with a common bullet even though I have the 127 gr LRX sitting on the bench. RL33 has been difficult to source lately as most on here can attest to.

Can't personally say I have used any Vhit powders, they haven't been available where I am in a decade.
I was just recommending the correct burn rate for this cartridge.
I have never played with a 260 Rem.

Cheers.

Welcome to the forum from Tennessee the search tab is your friend I'm sure you can find some information around here

I have shot the Barnes 120 TSX/TTSX in my 264's using N24N41. Excellent velocity. Never used N570 which is virtually the same burning rate as 24N41, with 24N41 being a hair slower. . 24N41 is also less expensive than N570 & usually more available. Rel 33 is slightly faster burning than 24N41 or N570 & will achieve the same velocities but with less powder for bullets up to 125gr. From 130gr on up The slower 24N41, N570 will achieve a greater velocity within safe pressure levels. I have used the Barnes 120 TSX/TTSX to take many elk over the years with never a failure. Complete penetration thru both shoulders. Also deep /total penetration from acute angles from front or back.
For deer , even the heaviest deer the Barnes 100gr TTSX is more than adequate. Here in Montana where I am at I have to hunt deer & elk at the same time so use a bullet that is elk capable, first, but more than that would be needed for deer.
As to the 260Rem, I have a wildcat 6.5x308 I built back in 1994, AKA the 260 Rem today. Also have two Savage 260 Rem's. The 6.5x308 using Barnes 120gr "X" the original , has taken several elk . All clean kill's, never a failure. Proper bullet placement with a tough deep penetrating bullets works.
