Good Afternoon!

Just thought I'd share a photo of the 2013 STS XRT in 338 that will be accopanying me on a Spring Bear hunt this next week in Oregon. I was able to take it out this week (should have got some photos but that idea goes out the window when your behind the rifle!)

Anywhoo this caliber was decided on over 300 WM for alittle extra energy and wind bucking ability (we all know those canyon shots can be fun) aswell as the fact that recent sighting have been over 1,000 yards.

Rifle is built on a trued Remington 700 Action with a 25" SSM #7 contour barrel, Tubbs Bolt, SAS QD muzzlebreak, Jewell trigger, PRI 20 MOA rail and AI 2.0 Chassis. A lighter barrel contour was chosen for alittle lighter overall rifle.

I will update with rifle and hunting results!

Oh pictures will be provided! Im hoping all turns out as I will be out for a week.

The rifle shot great. Did alittle load dev (nothing crazy as im running mag length with 300's) with zero horizontal deviation at all, only vertical... but once zero'd ran out too 978 and slammed my 45% IPSC with chest shots until I was out of ammo. 42 rounds total. Will get more photos this weekend.

Also wanted to throw out an invite to anyone in Western WA or Southern OR that may want to take it out ill be avalible the first few weeks of May. I know that people are always wanting to "try before you buy" or what not and I agree. See if you like the Rifle, Glass or Cal I dont care I just like shooting...

Anywhoo PM me if interested.

Thanks

Back from Bear hunting! Unfortunately SW Oregon went from Winter to Summer in no time! Everyday was 90* mid day. Saw 3 bears from 200 to approx 300 lbs. As I was going for a longer shot, this made it very difficult to glass at 1200 yards + when it is at or past sun down. Bears were at 1290, 1345 and 1410 yards. The S&B did a great job of collecting light but its not a NVD and in that low of light, thats almost your only option.

Since I only brought enough ammo to have some fun on the last day we took her out to 1515y and 1290y. Let me say with this rifle and how well the load tracks with the ballistics comp its almost boring to shoot at that range, but like all LR shooting, nothing is free and those canyon winds can be a real good time!

My father in law who has only shot out to 1,000y with my .308 had a chance to get behind her also... And after just 2 shots (at 1290y) that were within 2 inches of eachother, he will be ordering an LRT of his own in 300 WM very soon. :)

I will post up some pictures of the hunting area and others when they load. Just have to figure out how to get the target camera to cut through the mirage better.... any ideas?

Thanks,

Reed

Attached are afew photos. Not alot of pictures were taken as glassing takes up most of the time! The center of the clearcut was right at 1,410y FWIW.
