I have a 300 win mag sendero sf2. Has been bedded and a timney trigger.

A friend and I have been working on a round and having a hell of a time getting a round that will go near 3/4 moa or below. I would like for this gun to be able to shoot well a long ways :)

I have loaded the following and am using h1000 powder. Fed 215 and hornady brass. The 78.5 gr is 200 gr eld-x bullets and the 74 gr is 220 gr eld-x bullets. Those are the bullets I currently have to reload with. Any help or recommendations would be greatly greatly appreciated. I just want this thing to get dialed so I can start shooting more and getting ready for the season.

78.5 4.25 was 3.36 moa

78.5 4.28 was 2.40 moa

78.5 4.31 was 1.23 moa. 4 round group was .86 moa. (One flyer by shooter)

74 4.25 was 2 moa.

74 4.28 was 1.1 moa

74 4.31 was 1.61 moa. .91 4 round group. (One flyer by shooter)

Perhaps the 74 grain range loaded around 4.28-4.31 shows promise?

The 78.5 may be good up at the 4.31 range. Maybe even pushed some more?

Thoughts.

FYI I can't upload a pic of target due to minimal previous posts. Sorry. Perhaps. I will just try to post once or twice more.

I think you need to switch powders. I found an interesting article where you shoot 5 loads that are progressively increasing powder .5 grains at a time through a chronograph, 1 shot each load to find a powder your rifle and bullet likes. as you shoot if the velocity does not advance predictable or the point of impact gets all over the place switch powders or switch bullets. some guns dont like the combinations we try very hard to force our guns to shoot. been there done that. Saves you a lot of time doing load development and wasted bullets in my opinion.

It is a newer rifle but I have around 200 rds through it now. In re to seating depths those images above are all different seating depths.

I assume other loads you've tried were worse than the 74 and 78gn? Another powder may be in order.
Here is a link to a discussion on your eld bullets. Maybe of some help..

If your not set on those bullets and they don't work out I'm sure most will chime in with Berger 215 hybrid and H-1000 is tough to beat in a 300 WM. Got mine shooting pretty well with little effort.

Pick the best group in each and do the Berger seating depth test. You will likely find a seating depth that is markedly better than the others. You can then test in smaller increments around that area to fine tune seating depth. After this, run your powder test again. I used to test powder charge first, then seating depth but have become more and more convinced that testing for seating depth first is the best way to go.

I would take the 74 gr load at 4.28" and seat .05" deeper ( 4.23", 4.18", 4.13") and see how it does. ELDX have all wanted a significant jump in my rifles. They were/ are a challenge for me to tune.

The friend I load with had some 230 otm Bergers left over so we loaded a few of those today too. 74 gr h1000. 5 at Setting of 4.31
5 at setting of 4.34
Did 5 of the 200 gr eld x at 4.34 at 78 gr
Did 5 of the 220 gr eld x at 4.34 at 74

Fingers crossed

I have had good luck with the ELD-X, 200gr, with 68.0gr IMR-4350, CCI-LMRP. Velocity Average 2964, with a Std Dev of 25fps.
