Need Load: RL-17/178 AMAX/308 Win

Anyone here have a RL17, 178 AMAX load for 308 Win?

While I'm asking....how about a RL33, 285 Hornady load for 338 Lapua?

Never used either powder but its all I have to work with right now.

Start in the 46 grain range and work up. You'll probably top put around 49.5-50 grains. Start at 46 though.

Thank you. I read on another post awhile back that 49gr RL17 will push a 178 at 2700fps. I normally push them with 43.2 Varget at 2600fps with good results.

To be honest, RL17 is a little slow for that bullet weight. You really see the advantages in the 200 plus grain bullets. I would suggest RL15, Varget, IMR 4320, and even IMR 4064. Another you may want to try is Power Pro 2000MR. It is very nice powder to work with and you will see some nice velocity gains. CFE 223 would be another suggestion. Good luck finding any of these powders. Might be able to score the IMR's. Power Pro might be available too as I have not heard to many people using it yet.
