I'm starting to acquire the parts for my next build. This will be my long range hunting rig, for antelope to elk. Deviant hunter action, MPA lite chassis, 28" carbon proof barrel 1/8 twist, DMR2 scope. Im hoping the finish ready to hunt weight will be well under 12lbs.
I'm fairly set on chambering it in 7-300wm, and setting it up exclusively for the 195 Bergers. I've done dozens of google searches and read hundreds of post, and often end up with more questions than answers. A lot of guys have gone the 28 Nosler route to push the 195's, I just don't want to. If I can get them between 2900-3000fps in the 7-300wm I'll be happy. Most of the posts I've read are years old, and everyone was using RE33 because of the speeds, but I also read a lot of complaints about temp instability with 33. Would someone help point me towards a more stable and proven load with this specific combo please? I'll be shooting in 0° to 100°F, (elk to antelope) Also any advice on a tested and proven free bore? Or other chambering advice? I'll probably order a custom reamer based on a dummy load. I'd like to load them long and put the boat tail just above the doughnut area. I'll run the 3.850" mags to accommodate. Any other advice or help gladly accepted, thanks in advance.
