Need help savage barrel questions

Getting ready to pull trigger on new barrel for a savage long action I have I am looking at a 30" shilen or McGowan in 7mm RUM will I run into issues with a barrel that long on a standard shank savage and one piece base on top? Thanks

Nope, you'll be fine. I've hung a longer heavier barrel than that with no ill effects.

Is this a Pre-Fit barrel? If so, I did not know they made 7RUM's with small shank. You can hang a 30" on a Savage repeater action with out issue.

Yes both McGowan and shilen offer a small shank prefit in 7RUM thanks for the reply I'll try to let you know how it turns out
