Need help picking out first range finder @lowrest price

Hi iam still new to this forum, amd i wanted some help picking out a laser rangefinder, i was hoping to find something with a 1000 meter/yard maximum,i have not shot that far but i would like the ability to someday practice shooting at paper that far.I would like it for hunting applications and i usaully hunt for desert mule deer or coues whitetail and distances averance 200-450 yards on flat to nearly vertical ground.My shooting rig is a Remington 700 classic in 300 Weatherby with a Vortex diamond back HP 4x16 i dont mind if the rangefinder is a demo open box or refurbished as long as it decent qaulity and if anyone knows a great price lplease let me know ,what i was looking at far as features was something like this:Bushnell Scout DX 1000 ARC 6x21 Laser Rangefinder 202355 Up To 32% OFF | After Instant Rebate it doesnt have to be a bushnell just something as far as features and if anyone jnows of a better price please feel free to chime in.Thanks all in advance.

While it will certainly meet your intended purpose, I'd go with Sig Sauer Kilo 2000 rangefinder IIWY, there's are threads about it here in the forum if you do a custom search on the top right hand corner.

Second on the Sig Sauer Kilo 2000. I have ranged animals out to 1,350 yards.

Thanks i ve heard alot of good stuff about the Sig its just the price that's why i was looking at the Bushnell or somethimg im that price range or lower

Sig 2000 all the way! i was going to buy the Leica 1600-b, but when I compared them side by side the Sig won hands down! I have ranged houses as far as 2400 yds. The fact that it is under$500 doesn't hurt either. It will also range as close as 10 yds. Good luck

Be aware that when a manufacturer says their rangefinder is good for 1000 yds that it is only good when ranging a reflective object. Paper, wood, animals are not very reflective so the useful range for these objects is quite a bit less.

Thanks everyone, if i had the miney it would have been the the Sig Kilo all i could afford was the bushnell dx arc 1300,but iam happy with it maybe because iam just coming out of the stone age and finally stepped up to modern technology, something besides Kentucky windage?

We can only make recommendations and you have the ultimate decision to make and you are the one that has to face the consequences of the decision regardless of which RF.

Not too long ago the Swaro at ~$1500 was the standard for most LRH guys, the Sig is ~1/3 the price and ~3X the capability.

I was saving up for a long time for the Swaro but Leica came up with the 1600 model at $799 with excellent reviews afield from the LRH practitioners. I ended up owning a Leica 1600. The same thing is happening with the Sig, except it's under $500.

IIWY, I'll wait and save up for the Sig ... IMHO, it'll be worth your wait.

I would highly recommend saving up for the Sig also. My stepdad just got one and it blows everything else in that price range out of the water, and it is consistently within a yard of my Vectronix out to 1000yds. I fear you will soon outgrow anything of lesser value in a very short amount of time. It took me less than a year to be frustrated with my Leupold RX1000 not being able to range small varmints beyond 350yds on flat ground.

I haven't used many of the rangefinders mentioned here, but my Leica 1000R does meet your needs and is very high quality. I've ranged out to 1100 yards on trees and animals, as long as you not ranging flat lands with snow is always very accurate (had a hard time with coyotes this winter). If you also bowhunt this is the unit for you!

Well i lie it we took it out to the range yesterday ,my youngest son and I and i think the program works pretty well,i sighted in at 200 like the Vortex 4x16 daimond back hp manual says for what i am shooting and the program Mode h ans we did pretty good we were able to hit rams at 550 yards pretty regularly and i dug up this article from years ago http://www.longrangehunting.com/forums/f18/bushnell-g-force-1300-arc-rangefinder-96765/index5.html any how ive been shooting and hunting for over 30 years and never had a rangefinder or a decent scope available to me so ia. Extremely grayeful to even have these devices available to me.Ps i set the reading in mils on the range finder becuase the vortex deadhold bdc is in 2 mil increments
