Hello everyone. New member.
I was able to acquire some of the new N658 the other day, but I'm not finding anything for the load data. VV hasn't even published it yet.
Do they have a similar powder that would be comparable to the burn rate and has good loading data available?

I'm loading the 147 ELDMs.

ive never used VV before just FYI. Always shot Hodgdon.

I have heard that N568 is a mix of N565 and N570 and has a burn rate somewhere in between those two powders.
I don't know that for a fact, but it makes a little sense. The thing is that N568 is cut short and smaller than these other powders, so its density and composition are likely to give it slight boost in burn rate just due to its smaller granule size vs. the other two.
So, I might try looking at the loads for N570 and backing off 15% from the minimum loads for N570 and working up from there.
That ought to be a little conservative. But, I would also compare that "conservative" load to the midway or average of min and max load for N565 and not exceed that midway load for N565 either to start with either.

I have not seen any VV published load data for N568 yet either. You did not say what caliber you are shooting, but I have attached the latest VV reloading manual.

You might also try calling VV tech line for help. Maybe someone else here has some actual data.

Yep, I see it now....

The only thing I did find was a load data chart on Vhitavuori.com showing N565, N568, and N570 for a .338 Lapua Magnum.
And only for 300 gr bullets. I have attached it. It may give you some sense of how N568 performs relative to N565.

I do not see 6.5 PRC listed in the Vihtavuori data, but the slowest powder they show is N565 for only the bullets in the 150 gr class
so there is no N568 or N570 data at all in the 6.5 caliber PRC or for that matter for other 6.5 mm class calibers they list.

You might be able to get some starting points using the N565 data for 150 gr. bullets in the 6.5 Creedmoor, the 6.5-284
or other similar calibers which may be close to 6.5 PRC. You'll need to do some math and interpolation and then
take a safety factor off those numbers though.

I'm guessing N568 may be a little slow for 6.5 PRC unless its the heaviest bullets you are shooting? 147's may be a little light for N568?

The tables with N565 for the other 6.5 mm class calibers along with the relative performance shown in the table for N568 vs. N565 for .338 LM may give you some clues, but just be very safe and conservative on you starting points and work up slowly.

Good luck, you will get an education and have some fun figuring this out.:)

Tried 568 with 156s in 24" 6.5 prc. Here's my data. Shots 2-6 were under 1.5" at 200y. My freebore is long, coal is 3.072 @ 40k jump. Pretty good crunch on last charge. Had very slight click, but no bolt lift. This brass has been run very hard and is prone to clickers on occasion. Powders quite dirty, necks on charges 1-3 were heavily sooted, upper charges were better. On a side note, I run 60.2gr N570 in my 26" prc @ 3085fps. No pressure. I honestly belive this powder would work in a saum, the prc is a lil small. Oddly I can fit just a lil more N570 in a case than I can 568. 570 has more energy, and makes a lot more velocity in my other barrel. I will have to try them back to back in the same barrel. Thus far I'm unimpressed.

Vihtavuori powder and Berger bullets are owned by the same company (Nammo Group). There is a considerable amount of promotion between the two components. I shoot a 6.5 PRC. If you go to YouTube and search ULTIMATE 6.5 PRC HUNTING LOAD there is a new post on the Berger 156 Elite Hunter and the Vihtavuori N565. They provide their data. For what it is worth…

You might consider N165 andN 560 they work well in the 6.5 prc

Yep. Really wanted some of that powder to use with heavy bullets and the Lapua brass. Guess I will continue to wait.
