N565 & The 300 PRC

I am posting some results to help the next guy out. Getting this gun to shoot well wasn't even fun, it was a quest. After 5 range sessions I just gave up on the Barnes 190 LRX and H1000 and switched to the 212 ELDX with N565.

Load
Hornady brass (trimmed 2.574)
FED215
212 ELDX (.02 off lands)
N565 (73.5 gr final load)

Velocities

71 gr - 2710 fps produced 1/2 moa but slow
72 gr - 2746
72.5 gr - 2767
73.0 gr - 2792
73.5 gr - 2815 (final load)
74.0 gr - 2823

SD's all around 10 or less

Obviously I could chase velocity but I am happy with how it shoots. 2815 gives me 1800 fps at 1000. It's a hunting rifle and no more.

Hornady precision hunter 212's shot 2940 in my rifle producing .6-7 MOA. It's decent in a jam.

Take it for what it is, decent starting point with N565. I'm sure you could get more velocity if you want. I had no pressure signs in that range. I haven't stretched her out yet, I'll post some results when I get a chance.

I like N565 a lot and use it in other rifles, I have been waiting forever for n568 to hit so I can use that. N570 is fast as hell but didn't have the math I was looking for. I ended up using a Berger 215 and H1000 at 2900.

One of my RUMS loves 91 (I think - don't have notes handy) of 570 under either a 220 or 225 ELD. Velocity is 29something; accuracy is 2.5" at 500, my standard "hurdle" for LR rifles.

When if ever, will N568 ever be available? I have never seen anything but an AD. VV said Q2 but its maybe a myth like other Finnish lore, Odin, Thor, and such. I love the way N560, N565 and N570 shoot but reloading with those chunky monkees, is a lifetime's worth of work. I have tried baffles in the powder reservoir, only putting an inch of powder at a time in the bottom of the reservoir beneath the bafffles ( which does help) but nothing really works great, as these powders love to bridge off and clog the powder measure. I have to keep my bent paperclip handy to stick up in the dispensing tube and unclog all the time. I mostly just take approximate charges and weigh every round. No choice with these powders. Anyone got a line on N568 or a succesful way to meter N560, N565, N570 completely accurately every throw with no clogs of bridge-offs???? I'll pay for info.......

Just picked up some 565 to try out. Hopefully works with 215 bergers. Have a pile of both now and running out of h1000

N565 and N570 run good thru my Franklin Arsenal Intelladropper ???

How far did you jump the 190 LRX?

Mine don't shoot until .050 to .125 off the lands.

I went out .080, seemed pretty sensitive so velocities as well. I shot everything from .75 to 2.5 inch groups with them. Just couldn't get them fine tuned.

I shoot both the 300 PRC and the 30 Sherman Mag. The factory ammo with 212's shoots awesome through the 30 Sherman mag chamber and I get right around 3000 FPS with 80 grains of N565 and a 212 loaded to factory 300 PRC OAL.
Try loading your 212's at factory OAL, obviously your speeds will go up, and your accuracy may be there too!
I also use N570 in the 30 Sherman @ 83 grains, with velocities around 3100 FPS, I use the RCBS charge master light and have no stacking or bridging issues. I also use an RCBS range master to double weigh ALL of my powder throws before dumping into the case. 26", 9 twist Proof by the way.

Belding and Mull measure will throw H50BMG quite accurately. MVA makes the new version if you can;t find an
