My Son's New Hunting Rig

Started life as Walmart 243 ADL.
Far cry from Walmart now....
Walmart action, no Gunsmithing on action yet.
Factory Remington 22" 7mm-08 cut to a modest 18" and threaded.
Boyd's At-One Thumbhole Stock, adjustable LOP and comb.
Talley 1 piece rings.
Burris Signature HD 2-10 scope, great push pull locking turrets and BDC on 10x for holds out to 400 yards.
Weight 8lbs 6oz

The load. Hornady 150gr ELD-X, velocity at testing 2700fps, 1 moa capable, G1 BC of .595(litz).

Lots of potential with round. Lots of room to grow. Could be the perfect east coast trekking rifle that can dial for east coast distances.

Wish I had this slayer at 9 years old.

I killed a lot of deer/elk with my walmart youth 243adl. Oddly enough it shot really well or luck was on my side.

Looks great. Best to learn on a caliber like that than throwing him on a larger bore.
He can kill everything he needs too.

He loved his 243... took a nice ram in my profile pic with it. Passed the ADL youth stock on to a member on here.

Shooting 150ldx the sky is the limit in the states as long as the range is right.

Man, that thing looks familiar! I finish out at 18.3" and a touch larger at the end. 11.6# with the LHT on top and the EC on the end. Shooting the exact same as you with the 150 ELD-X. Also does well with the 175 EOL. What powder are you running?

Same as your boy, I got this rifle when I was 11 and the only thing original on it is the action. Started life as a featherweight....oops

Have sub moa load with varget... get same group and little more speed with Staball6.5 but ES not as good.
