Ok, it took 10 pages, but finally got to shoot this awesome rifle! I decided to just mainly do a pressure test work up to see what velocity I would find pressure at, as well as to form brass, break the barrel in and get comfortable with the rifle. I did a workup with 215 Bergers as well as 212 eld-x's, though I was far more thorough with the 215's.

I will start by saying, DO NOT try this in your rifle without working up, I figured I would hit pressure way lower than I did, a combination of Dallas's chamber specs, the awesome Bat action, the virgin brass and probably this barrel ended up letting me load much higher than I initially planned. Here is what I ended up getting -

Retumbo
GM215M
Virgin ADG
3.675" OAL with 1.593" bullet (~ .025 off)
Virgin 20" Bartlien 1-8 twist carbon

78.0 - 2535
78.5 - 2586
79.0 - 2606
79.5 - 2625
80.0 - 2650
80.5 - 2655
81.0 - 2686
81.5 - 2693
82.0 - 2716
82.5 - 2738
83.0 - 2777
83.5 - 2787
84.0 - 2794
84.3 - 2819
84.6 - 2843
84.9 - 2843
85.2 - 2854
85.5 - 2871
85.8 - 2875
86.1 - 2884
86.4 - 2905
86.7 - 2915
87.0 - 2932
87.3 - 2941
87.6 - 2969
87.9 - 2946
88.2 - 2992

Never once did I get any change whatsoever in bolt lift, never any clickers, it was smooth as butter. I did get very, very faint ejector marks towards the end, you will see in the pics, and finally one that was a little bit more plain to see on the 88.2 load. However, none of the ejector marks had a swipe or smear. I do think a combination of the Bat action and virgin brass is hiding some pressure, so I plan on running one piece of brass in the upper range until I loose the primer pocket to try to get an idea where that threshold is.

On a separate note, this rifle is sweet to shoot. While there is significant recoil, it is a soft shove and very manageable. I probably won't be spotting shots, but it is still pleasant to shoot! And the action.....oh man, the action.....incredibly buttery smooth.

In order as they are pictured below, these are 87.6, 87.9, and 88.2 grains

If there's an ejector mark on that 88.2, it's hidden really well. Impressive results so far.

It's around the 0 and the N on "30 NOSLER", not much for pressure signs, but it's gotta be getting up there, Nosler lists 84 grains as max for the 210 and 80 as max for the 220. This is certainly not a SAAMI chamber, but still. 26" 300 win mag performance from a 20" 30 nosler is pretty awesome!!

No paint on the chassis yet, but all the bits and pieces are finally together!

Weight with supressor, Magpul bipod, heavier MDT magazine, and supressor, then weight without the bipod and with the lighter accurate mag and still the supressor, then Weight with single shot tray, no bipod and a 3 port muzzle brake. If I swap out the mag for the ss tray, it drops .3 lbs

Cody,

She's a beauty as-as.

Alright, just spent the morning killing a piece of brass!!!

Figured I would see how long the 88.2 charge piece of brass would last at that charge, so here's how it went! 1st round was the fireforming round, of course. My protocol was to load it in the house, walk out to my bench (15 yards from my house) and shoot it, then repeat. It's 72° in my house, 78° outside. The rifle is left out in the morning sun, and there is about 5ish minutes between shots.

1. 2992 fps, no bolt lift or clicker

Neck sized only

2. 2992 fps, increased bolt lift, no clicker

Full length sized, bumped shoulder .002", primer pocket felt same as new

3. 2991 fps, no bolt lift, no clicker

Primer pocket felt the same, same brass prep.

4. 2971 fps, no bolt lift, no clicker

Primer pocket felt maybe a tad looser? Still tight, could not pop it out by hand with trimmer pilot. Same shoulder bump.

5. 2980 fps, no bolt lift, no clicker

Pocket felt same as the last round. Trimmed brass back to factory spec, about .013" of stretch so far, same shoulder bump

6. 2994 fps, no bolt lift, very light click at top

Pocket felt slightly looser, still could not pop the Primer out by hand. Same shoulder bump.

7. 3012 fps, no bolt lift, very light clicker at top

Was barely able to pop Primer out, but took significant force. Same prep

8. 2968 fps, no bolt lift, light clicker at top

Was able to pop primer out with moderate force, but still was holding the primer enough for use. Same prep

9. 3026 fps, some bolt lift, light clicker at top

I called it at this point. As I seated the primer with my RCBS hand primer, I could barely feel any resistance, and was able to pop the primer out with pretty light force. It still held it enough I could have shot again, but this is the point where I would trash the brass. After my initial trim after shot #5, it only stretched another .005" the next 4 rounds.

So this load averaging 2991 fps would get 9ish rounds out of my 30 nosler brass......not too shabby! I at least know this is probably the top end of where I would want to be, I wouldn't go any hotter than this. Most my hunting temps aren't much warmer than what I was shooting in, most are significantly cooler, so that is comforting. I'm starting to get a good feel of this rifle!

Also, it seems to like 7-10 ha ha. I would say my last shot, #10, was just starting to get to the upper end of pressure, still not as hot as my top 215 berger load, but close.

Nice going ! Hopefully you can pick up some speed when that stubby barrel breaks in, try shooting that 215 load after you have ~150 rounds and see what speed it runs at.
