I have a late start and decided to have my bowstring replaced. Went to the range yesterday during my lunch break.

Considering anything past 20 yards is a blur (I forgot to wear contact on my right eye), I thought the session went well. It took me longer to wax the string than the actual shots, very pleased with it.

I need to get out and shoot a little myself but I've actually only hunted once during archery season in the last five years mainly due to the hot temperatures and ticks I've had Rocky Mountain spotted fever once and it is the sickest that I have ever been in my life not looking to do that again

Good morning Bill, How are Ya ?

Going to breakout the Hoyt Carbon element later today and take my first shots of the year I will post pics Hope I can even hit the target in this wind

How's it at 50 or 60y? I'm good at 50, but my shot groups start to break up at 60 so my personal limit is 50y until I have more time to practice. 20&30 seem like chip shots when you practice at 60.
I have pins out to 50 that's where I usually limit myself although for kicks I do try 60 occasionally I put my 50 pin on top of the target which is about 8 inches high and usually drop it right in there

Last year, my buddy and I were shooting at 65 yards fairly well but I have no intention of shooting at wild games past 30 yards ...

If you ever plan on hunting elk with archery gear, you up your odds of a shot opportunity double if not more if you can make shots at 60+ yards. I'm the same way in my home state. 30-40 yards on deer is max IMO. A treestand in a wooded setting makes anything beyond 30 almost impossible. In open areas, 40 is not far. 60 could be average and 70-80 could be common.
