Very nice rifle. And she sure shoots! Love the look of that McMillan A3 stock.

Curious what the length of your barrel is minus the brake... hard to tell from the pics. You say that you're getting 2970 fps with the berger 210's and that is excellent velocity.

I am waiting on a custom 300wm built at the moment and I am getting a hart 26" barrel, no brake. I've been curious as to what velocity I'll get out the 26" tube with the 210's, and am hoping for somewhere around the mid 2900's just like you're getting.

Timber338,

The barrel without the break is 28", the brake adds about two inches. I think you should be able to get a little over 2900fps with your 26" barrel, those 210's in a .300 are awesome. Mind sharing what you're having built?

Wow, overall that's a long tube! I've currently got a 338wm with a 28" barrel and I love the extra velocity you get. With your rifle I suspected that 2970 fps, at such top-shelf accuracy, must have come from a 28" barrel. I'll be happy getting right at 2900 +/- with an accurate 210 Berger load.

The custom 300wm I am waiting on is being built by Jim Borden. My goal is a good all around hunting rifle, not too heavy, to hunt everything here in Colorado. It is based on a stainless Borden Timberline Magnum action, Hart 26" stainless #4 fluted barrel no brake (1:10), wyatt magazine box, McMillan Edge A3 game scout, Jewell Trigger @ 2.25# and custom machined bottom metal. Waiting for it sucks!

Have not decided on a scope yet ... so many options.

It is a little long but I have fallen in love with it. I ordered another barrel exactly the same a few months ago. I also had mine put together for everything in Colorado as well, small world.

Your build sounds very good and it should be a shooter with the smith you've got on the job. I hope it shoots well for you! I'm sure it will.

The 210's are great but I've been playing with the 215 Berger Hybrid a lot and it is a shooter! I get about 2930 fps with it and the added BC makes about 5" difference in wind at 1000 yards for 10mph and it gives me more range and horsepower. I'll be testing them in ballistics gel soon and hopefully a couple colorado deer, an elk and a bear this year. You may give them a look.
