Hey all, I'm new here but I'm hoping to pull from the experience of others. I just Bought a Remington 700 chambered in the .300 RUM. I am looking to get the barrel threaded and install a break. The one I have been looking at is the Badger Ordinance FTE. My question is this: They have three different thread sizes for the FTE break something like:

P/N 306-38 3/4-28 thread and .875" minimum Bbl diameter, Weight: 6.8 oz.
P/N 306-38B 5/8-24 thread and .800" minimum Bbl diameter, Weight: 7.9 oz.
P/N 306-38C 3/4-24 thread and .875" minimum Bbl diameter, Weight: 6.8 oz.

Which one should I choose? Is there not a standard for threading? I'm guessing that having more space between the threads is a better bet for larger calibers? The reality is I'm fairly ignorant where breaks are concerned. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Zach

If your barrel is approx .800" O.D. (just guessing) at the muzzle, the 5/8" x 24 tpi would be your choice. 5/8" x 24 is also a common suppressor thread.

Warning! This thread is more than 12 years ago old.
It's likely that no further discussion is required, in which case we recommend starting a new thread. If however you feel your response is required you can still do so.
