Been preseason scouting public land by my home for the LE 2 day youth season that starts 3 days before the regular season. For three days my friend and I scouted, the first two scouting days were mostly sunny but very windy with almost constant gusts up to 40mph+.

After walking and glassing for 9 hours over two days, saw a few birds but never a single gobble morning or evening. Today near zero wind and it was like somebody turned the gobble switch on. Had 3 roosted toms by me that started gobbling at exactly 5am more on the ground and all were still at it when I sneaked out at 8:30am. Then saw more than enough gobblers out and about to peak my hopes and confirm where to hunt for youth season.

Amazing how a simple change in weather makes all the difference in the world. Can't wait to get my boys in the field.
