So my chiappa little badger just decided to start doing the click thing to me, I have put a fair few rounds through it, if i recock the hammer it goes off on the second strike.

Can carbon buildup cause this?

morning, try another brand, if same thing happens, have
a gun smithy clean the bolt assembly or go to the internet
for assembly and disassembly of the bolt. gbot tum

I have heard of people have failures to fire caused by dry firing a rimfire.

The firing pin hammers a spot on the rim of the chamber deep enough to keep the priming compound from being squished enough to ignite.

I know the problem can be fixed. I hope this is not the problem the OP is having.
