Might be getting a Weatherby Mark V Ultralight

I've ran upon what I think is a great deal. A Weatherby Mark V Ultralight in .300 Wby Mag. I already have a .300 Win Mag, but I've always wanted a Mark V. It's got a few battle scars (minor scratches) but it is a beauty, and $650 makes it impossible for me to pass up. I believe it is a 26" barrel and a Accu-Brake.

Anyone have anything to say about this style rifle? If you were me, would you get it, even though you already have a .30 mag? I believe its 200 fps better than the Win Mag, correct?

Please give me your thoughts.

That's a steal at $650
Wonderful cartridge, easy to load for
Wonderful rifle, easy to pack and shoot.
That trigger never bothered me but if you dont like it, easily swapped for a Timney.
I'm sure the brake is well justified, considering it started out at 6.2 lbs. I think it would be me a great start for long range practice. Probably more accurate than my Ruger with a pencil barrel.

If it's a 9-lug, which I believe it to be, the weight is/was, I think, closer to 6.75 #. If you have experience with light rifles in magnum calibers you may be o.k. If not, hang onto your hat.
I'm a recoil junky! To keep a friend from using a lead sled, I set up his Model 70, .375 H&H. 7 shots, no padded shirt.

The 300 with accubrake is a kitten to shoot. Its 360* ported so dont touch one off prone.
Personally I'd hunt without the break.

Overkill 338,

The factory trigger can be adjusted by a gun smith. To me it's the way to go. I have two Mk V. One with a Timney and one adjusted by the 'smith. I can't tell the difference.

I would certainly leave the brake on.

I was leaning more toward finding a load that gives you what you want accuracy-wise than dealing with recoil, although recoil velocity will likely be right smart.

My hunting will be with a matching muzzle weight, so it doesn't effect POI. I just got to hope Ole Roy's company sells one.

I'm as giddy as a kid at Christmas: -D

I think the LOP on those is a little shorter than normal.
