Unpacking stuff from my move and came across a box of 123 SSTs. Used to use them a lot in my little Lapua before I switched to the ELD-X. Figured what the heck, and loaded up some check charges down low to be safe and Then 5 rounds each in .5 grain increments from 50.5 to 52.0 grains of H4831. I'm .015 off on the SST and it's seated almost past the cannelure (no crimp)! My standard Accubond load is on the left for comparison. Lots of bearing surface but no compressed powder. Neck tension at .0015. This should be interesting. I like that little SST, however. Maybe it will surprise me in the Norma.

Read your post. Thought it was about the 284 Winchester. Looked at Hornady's site to try and find a 123 gr SST 7mm bullet. There was a 123 SST listed in the 6.5 bullets.

Do you mean the 6.5-284?

.015" neck tension.... do you mean .0015"?

You didn't mention velocity.

What is the little lapua?

Finally what are you talking about? " it might surprise me in the Norma"....Norma what?

Sorry about that. Yeah, I'm talking about the 6.5-284 Norma, and was referring to having used the bullets in my 6.5x47 in the past.

Neck tension should have been .0015 as well.

sorry for the confusion!

I shoot the 140 class bullets out of my 6.5-284. 2950-3050 seems the be the sweet spot for the 140s. The 143eldx and the 156 Berger have killed a few deer for me over the last few years.

I'm getting good half MOA groups with my 6.5X284 with 124g Hammer Hunters. I'm loading RL 26 and getting 3250fps with 56.5 g. It's a new rifle, so I'm still toying with it. I've also had good success with RL 23 and the same bullet.

Wow! I simply must try this RL-26!

I got up to 3100 ft./s in my 6.5x284 Norma with a 26" proof barrel but that's where I ran into pressure signs and it was not all that accurate I had better results with reloader 23 at 2980 fps
