Hello Long Rangers,

This site is a great inspiration to me, and I often come here looking for very specific information. Thank you all for loving this awesome hobby!

Anyway, enough with the romance:

I've learned that a remington 700 receiver can be cut so that it can feed .308 length cartridges from a double stack AW magazine. These conversions often use the same bottom metal as are often used to mate single stack AI mags to remington 700 receivers.

Is there any reason why you couldn't do the same to a Howa receiver?

It seems to me as if that would be an inexpensive route to a high capacity, high quality rifle that comes ready with a 3 position safety.
