Machining Pillars

OK to be the devils advocate.

I can fathom a bedding job c/w pillars! No problem.

But my confusion is in clarification of terms.

The job my gun smith did was just bed the pillars. That was their recommendation.

Now in hind sight, I think they should have bedded the whole action and pillared it at the same time. eh

Installing pillars without bedding the action is like being "little bit pregnant".

I want to bed with as much pre compression stress as I will ever get on the pillars.... so they are in the same shape and position they will have in use.

It is like rebar in concrete. The expensive pours pre stress the rebar, but in tension.
We want the pillars in a rifle to be pre stressed in compression.
