I have a stainless Rem. 700 long action (.300 Win mag) on an HS Precision stainless target barrel and target stock.

I'm going to put the barreled action into a MDT TAC 21 chassis and I'd like to change the bolt (only) and find one with a Sako-type extractor. Does such an animal exist??

I realize I'd need to get it headspace again.

I have heard of several cases of sako extractors coming unglued when put into 700's. Have you considered the M16?
At any rate, PTG might have something.

Call Dave Kiff @ PT&G (Pacific Tool & Gauge).

Anytime you cut into the side of a closed cylinder such as the bolt face, you immediately compromise the strength and security of that cylinder. It doesn't matter what style extractor or name brand you use if is breaks into the circle of the bolt face. One design might simply require more pressure to cause the failure.

Yes, PT&G sells bolts with the two other types of extractors.

    Regards.
