I really like the glass in Nightforce scopes and how solid they are built. I second the NX8 as you won't look back for what you've bought. Nightforce has one of the best service departments there is and I have had huge problems with Bushnell and Leupold service departments in the past. To me, it is what you get service wise, God forbid you ever need it but, it happens, that gives me comfort in my purchase. Nightforce corners the market on great service.

Your budget is close to the NF NX8 which is what I would go for in my experience.

This…this is my next scope. Great magnification range for all around hunting, decent glass, great internals, reliable, plus get red AND green illumination of reticle.

At the price point you listed, I haven't seen anything posted that will compete with an XTRIII. If you can still find one, the 3.3-18x was selling for right around $1k; which is REALLY hard to beat.

The downside being, they are no longer "USA made", XTRIII production has been shipped to the Philippines. Although, they will now be shipped at a substantial cost savings & will illumination.
