Looking for a 20 to 22 inch barrel hunting barrel

I've never had anything shorter than 26 inches really my whole life. But since I have a supressor was looking into a 20 to 22 inch barrel for hunting I have a ultra 9 thunderbeast. I usually take shots out to 800 yards max but will take a shot too 1000 if set up right.

Right now I have stuff for 30 nosler and 7 prc.

I'm building a 30-28 nosler on a 24 inch barrel but strongly considered 22. My 26 inch sammi spec 30 nosler was running 230s at 2980 with an es of 10-12.

Running one of the big 30s and a high bc bullet at 22 inches is still good for at least 800 and possibly 1k. Is this a Texas rifle only or do you have elk in the picture. Do your ballastic calculations at 8000 feet and you gain about 150 yards of effective range based on a minimum velocity threshold.

FWIW, I have a 21 inch 7 saum running 180 hybrids at 2840 so the prc should do all that.

I live in Colorado and hunt from 7000 to 11000 feet elevation

Just inputting the basics, a 215 hybrid with a mv of 2800 is doing 1925 at 8000 feet.

I have a 270WSM that I cut down to 22" to use with my suppressor and like it so much I'm planning on doing the same for my 7RM as well as building a 20" 7mm (probably in 7mm PRC).

My wife even liked the suppressed 270WSM so much that she decided to use it to take two Elk this last season over her 270WIN.

When the brass is finally in stock a 20" 7prc slinging 180-190's would be a bad dude, plenty enough gun for 800yd and handy.
