Long Range Kangaroo Hunting By Shane Morgan

Nice story man, but your a tosser - all the regs in all states of australia have head shooting of roo's as a legal requirement - and all your article does is put a bad name out for any aussie shoters out there. - long range shooting has its place - love nothin better than varmit shootin rabbits 150m plus, and the real pro's who know there gear a hell of a lot better than you obviously do who can nail a deer at 1000 - but roo shootin at over 500 and not being to fussed about "shootin them lower than the chest" - your either full of ****, a weekend cowboy, or both. PS - the Tacticool gear makes you look a right twat
Pull the story before you do more harm to our sport

cheers
joe

And here's the ringleader, the guy who starts the bash.

So you've ascertained that Mr. Morgan doesn't know his equipment as well as the "real pro's" - can you tell us who that is? And they'll "nail" a deer at 1000 but somebody can't hit a roo in the brain at 500? What are you smoking, "mate"?

I'll tell you what, if I see you shooting at a deer at 1000 yards, I'm going to turn my weapon on you, "mate"... Why don't you send in a photo of yourself...we'd like to see what a whiner looks like...

I only read Shane say where NOT to hit roos, not where he's aiming. I read the regulations fully and Shane's practices are within the letter of the law.

Hit in the right place, usually the chest area results in quick kills as they are soft skinned

Please tell us FH's, some of who have been reloading and competition shooting out to 1000yds for over 40 years, how to get 2800fps out of a cartridge that is not as fat and 16mm shorter than a 6.5/06??

you should read the regs...it says..."point of aim"

Shane said a chest shot would result in a quick kill - aiming at the head at 1400 yards or so, one might miss a time or two...I guess the rest of you guys don't miss either...

I LOVE crawdads...and I AM a hippy...and proud of the star & bars...I drive a pickup and a Jaguar...and we don't shoot deer at 1000 yards either...and without anyone telling us not to...

Blah blah blah - yank ya talk to much - ya think too little -

1)The regs say bugger all about "point of aim" - The code of compliance clearly states "brain shot" - aint no brain in the belly, or the chest - i dont give a rats arse where the bullet drops from where you aim - if you cant hit a roo in the head you are either too far out, over rating your capabilities, a tosser, or american (that last ones a little joke by the way, before ya cream ya pants)

2)Yes a chest shot will kill a roo - and quickly, same as it does on our deer, our pigs, our buff, our wild dogs etc etc - but that dont matter none coz the law states brain shots are the only legal way to cull / control / harvest roos - do i agree with the law? - not really, but its the way it is - we live with it - ya man shane should too rather than runnin his big mouth of for the world to see

3)I dont shoot deer either - not at all, never had the chance - but if the chance arose id be **** sure of my shot placement, rather than try to be a hero like your man Mr Morgan. - Takes a big man to know his limits. Im comfortable with mine.

Ps - i believe the correct spelling for the penis metaphore you seek is Johnson - unless that is how you spell your surname - peace out little jonson

...or a rats *** about accuracy either: from the Code of Practice:

Point of aim

Conditions

  1. A shooter using a rifle must aim so as to hit the target kangaroo in the brain (see diagram in Schedule 2), except in the case of an injured or wounded animal where a brain shot may be impractical.
  2. A shooter using a shotgun must aim so that, whether the target kangaroo is stationary or mobile, it will be hit in the head, neck or chest by the centre of the pattern.

It remains that it is a true statement and not an endorsement...why does it require a comment from the peanut gallery? Or is it not clear that a former law enforcement official would know the law and follow it? I guess there are preachers on every continent.

3)I dont shoot deer either - not at all, never had the chance - but if the chance arose id be **** sure of my shot placement, rather than try to be a hero like your man Mr Morgan. - Takes a big man to know his limits. Im comfortable with mine.

What, rabbits at 150 yards are your limit? Is there a law about head shots on rabbits, too? Why not? Or are your greenies, which you obviously let make your hunting laws, just a bunch of weenies? It's just that here in America, we don't have to dictate where to shoot an animal...gentlemen believe in one-shot, one-kill. Once in a while when we mortals miss, we put the animal down however we must...

Ps - i believe the correct spelling for the penis metaphore you seek is Johnson - unless that is how you spell your surname - peace out little jonson

Well, well, does that indicate where your mind is? It IS my surname and the name of a cartridge that I invented. Does anyone need to hear more from this crowd??

Rest assured my assertive new friends that if the authorities catch Mr Morgan in the process of shooting kangaroos anywhere but in the head, without tags, or interfering with the carcasses, he WILL lose his firearms license for no less than 5 years.

And it goes without saying that we in Australia are already living on borrowed time with the current firearm legislation. The cries from the antis mount steadily and with front-running politicians elected by the sheeple only too happy to propose exciting new bans, we need all the respectability we can get if we have any show of retaining our firearms status quo.

When people like Mr Morgan post on an international platform about the joys of long range sniping of our national symbol, it just adds fat to the already blazing fire.

Can anyone understand that we want to keep our firearms?

Can anyone understand that Mr Morgan is advocating (and he is, make no mistake about that) an essentially illegal activity.

Should this be condoned? NO!

Mr Jonson scoffs at the concept of Australia having professional roo shooters, which clearly illustrates his lack of understanding of even the basic tenets of the situation, so how in hell can he hope to lecture us on what is and isn't acceptable on the far side of the globe escapes me.

We did not launch an attack on Mr Morgan for the fun of it; because we're jealous (I live adjacent to the most remote wilderness on the continent and can shoot big game all **** day if I want); or because we didn't like his balaklava - as much as that may be difficult for yopu to understand. We attack him because he presents us in a most unfavourable light.

Comprendez?

My apologies, 'twas confused with another round used here also referred to as 6.5x47 but not the "Lapua" version.

My other comments are still however pertinent, and as a property owner, I refuse shooting access to anyone who presents themselves in camo ninja wear purporting to be a long range sniper!:rolleyes:

Public image and ethical conduct are the only recourse for Aussie shooters to maintain their privilage to own & use firearms; indeed the biggest public rifle range in my state refuses entry to anyone who attends in camo clothes.

Mr Jonson,
What kills me is this last comment from a "professional" kangaroo hunter???? What the hell is that...do you get paid for that? I'm going to apply here for a license to be a professional cow hunter.
Before you shoot your mouth of get the facts right, as stated we do have professional roo shooting over here and make **** good money doing it ($10 a roo x 60-70 a night) just like in New Zealand they have professional Deer cullers. I am not making a personal attack on Mr Morgan, just stating that he should of thought before he posted such a story.
So you've ascertained that Mr. Morgan doesn't know his equipment as well as the "real pro's" - can you tell us who that is? And they'll "nail" a deer at 1000 but somebody can't hit a roo in the brain at 500? What are you smoking, "mate"?
This is a ridiculous comment you obviously know nothing of the sizes of a kangaroo to make such a comparision whats say an elks killzone 20"x20" roughly?, a roos brain is approx 2" it's head maybe 3". As far as the ex law enforcement comment, I'm sure its the same over there, some of the police are the worst crooks because they think they can get away with it. Obviously the mentallity of Mr Morgan to think he can write a story about breaking the law, then post it on an international forum to make himself look good and get away with it.
You self-righteous guys aren't going to find any friends here. If you feel so strongly about how well you shoot, bring a team over here to the deep south made up of beerjoeyjoe, RumPig, BadAssWallace, Sierra, and gedsar to participate in a little snipe hunting...
What has this got to do with the topic, I bet "Deliverence" was shot in your backyard, are you the kid on the bridge with the banjo?......squeel like a pig boy!!!.

Mr Jonson,

you got that part right...

What has this got to do with the topic, I bet "Deliverence" was shot in your backyard, are you the kid on the bridge with the banjo?......squeel like a pig boy!!!.

Well...that's the reason I invited you boys over for a little snipe hunting...and nah, I'm not the kid...we reserve the pig squealin' for our guests...

See, we keep those guys out in the woods just for whiners like you!

so were both our movements for independence...

I didn't hear Mr. Morgan advocate anything but the long range culling of kangaroos with emphasis on the precision and care he takes in doing it. If you think so much of your national symbol then why is it culled as a pest?? That's what happens when you let greenies run your country and make ridiculous laws. See below...

All you have to do is understand the word "cull" - it's the same in America as it is in Oz. If you're going to make it legal to kill something as a pest then allow those who are doing the killing to accept the responsibility. And to pay someone to do something that thousands of volunteers would be willing to do for sport is what I'm jeering you on about. If someone blatently misuses that responsibility, then deal with him.

It's just a case of someone that's got the power putting it over people that don't. We give them the power and let them stick it to us like that over here too! I can't shrimp anymore (laws passed) in the most productive white shrimp population in the world because the professional shrimpers are over fishing the estuaries and don't have enough catch to make a living. And they're charging us arms and legs for local foodstuff that grows everywhere. Hell, I'll catch my own, thanks a lot...

What you've got in this case is people in power putting their friends to work doing stuff that would take care of itself if they let it alone. Hell man, do something about it instead of whining about it...

We did not launch an attack on Mr Morgan for the fun of it; because we're jealous (I live adjacent to the most remote wilderness on the continent and can shoot big game all **** day if I want); or because we didn't like his balaklava - as much as that may be difficult for yopu to understand. I think Shane Morgan is the image of what should be represented in an Australian hunter, integrity, precision and humane - understand that camoflage is something kids wear to school here as fashion - we don't judge people by what they wear. You should be attacking those greenies instead. I've got a buddy over here that's an import from Oz and he wants to rub his green crap off on me as well, berates me every chance he gets...oh, he re-cycles and his wife drives a hybrid and they eat granola and chinese vegetables. The bastard also made millions over here, drives a giant SUV himself, has a 70 foot sailboat and lives in a $10million house.

So here's my take. When socialists get control of any government, they want you to be like them and if you don't comply, they pass laws and lock people up and take away their priviledges. That's communism. If you're on the cusp of anything, it's not just losing your guns. Remember that socialists think everyone should be equal...only they should be a little more equal than everyone else.
