Loads for 7mm rem mag??

The reason I ask is because you are wanting to use the 180 gr berger vld's. From my understanding and all of the reloaders I've talked to, tend to use the imr 4350 on lighter bullets (like 160 gr and down on the 7mm). On the heavier bullets (over 160 gr) they prefer to use something like H1000. Someone with more experience than I can probably lend better info than me on the subject though. I'm in the process of getting a something worked up for my 7mm as well. I'm currently using:
Rem Brass
WLMR Primers
H1000 powder
168 gr Berger VLD's
Shooting out of a Savage 7mm Rem Mag 111 Trophy Hunter XP
I am loading all of my bullets to the lands (or at least until I can find my max powder load).
I was going to go find my max load this weekend, but due to me forgeting to lube a case, I now have a stuck case in my sizing die. The good news is that I finally decided to replace my die set with a RCBS Competition Die Set. Should be here tomorrow. Then I can get back at it. I'll share my results when I get some.

For the 7Mags, I like the Berger 168 VLD's. i use Alliant Reloder 22 or H1000 for my 7Mag Berger loads.

Live in northern Canada and cannot buy powder anywhere since the gun control scare in the states my options are pretty much 4350 and retumbo gun will be used for long range shooting as well as hunting

Retumbo will be a much better choice for the 180s in the 7mag.

Berger lists 69.2(2881fps) as max for Retumbo and the 180s. I was shooting 68gr at about 2900fps in mine, not sure what max was in my rifle. Berger lists max with IMR 4350 at 55.7 (2705fps)

175fps difference in listed velocities. I have found Retumbo to be one of the best powders for 180gr bullets in the 7mmRem.

I know each gun is different....but when I started reloading for my new Sendero 7RM, I tried Retumbo, H1000 and would get so so groups. Then "MudRunner2005" recommended 7828SC and it worked great. At the time this was with 168 VLDs. It worked great. The 180s are the on the edge for a the 9.25 twist but can work. I now shot them but with N570. Laser accuracy and fast.

Make sure with any VLD bullets, to do the seating depth starting at mid level powder charge. Seating depth has a significant effect on group size with VLDs in particular.

Great gun BTW.....you will love it.
