My little brother Colin got his ND youth deer tonight. She was quartering away at 388 yards and i got him set up behind the 30/375 S.I. Impact velocity with the 215 berger was 2515 fps and impact energy was 3018 ft lbs. I told him to aim for the off side shoulder, and he did just that. After the shot she went about 60 yards and tipped over. The exit in the hide was roughly 3"x 2", there was a 4"x2" exit in the ribcage. About 2 feet of penetration. The entrance was .308 size. The liver was unidentifiable. Here are some pics.

Thanks Harper and Bruce, we were also surprised she went as far as she did, i think she knew we were there so she may have some adrenaline pumping before the shot? Not sure, either way im very happy with the bullet's performance so far.

Congratulations. Tuff kid brother with a big rifle, as a former President said, Bully.

Good work men, congrats to your brother. One thing for sure she was not going far. Maybe some of that energy she soaked up gave her wings? :D

What did you end up with for MV of that rifle?

Thanks for the report

Jeff

Thanks
Jeff, i am at 2978 fps at 76*, i just cleaned the barrel after 150 shots because the groups were starting to open up and i lost 20 fps. I am 3-4 grains below max with RL33 so i am sure i could run it up to 3075+ and still be in good shape.

Next on the hitlist are speed goats.

Thanks for the added info. 2 feet of penetration is pretty good entering above 2500 fps and leaving through the shoulder. So would you say it expanded a few inches after entry?

Jeff

I cant say for sure, i didnt get a good look at the insides, but i can tell you the entrance on the inside of the ribcage was .308 size. My Dad made the comment that it looked like a tornado went through her...

Other than editing the profile on the shooter website and then transferring it over, nothing new for ios 8 and shooter.
I already really like this rifle, shoots ridiculously well and is exceptionally repeatable. I guess the bullet does ok also. :D :)

As you know I am very fond of a good 30 myself. Yeah , the bullet does ok:rolleyes: You little bugger! It took you long enough to see the light, guess you had to get some more years under your belt.:D

Wishing you and your family a great hunting season Riley.gun)

Haha, i guess i will see how they do on elk, but i dont think i will be disappointed. Thanks and good luck to you this season!
