Lightweight 6.5 PRC Build

Over the years I have picked up quite a few pre64's , they've just been sitting around, sure hope they feed the Ackley case? I could have gone with a lighter receiver but I like the old pre64 mod70's

I've had 280AI built on Rem 700, Husqvarna HVA(CRF), Defiance Rebel, Weatherby Mark V 6 lug and they all have fed fine, Your Win 70 action will be perfect.

I got to the range today for a quick hour with the new Kimber Montana 6.5 PRC, I shot both factory loads and the first 3 shot group out of the rifle was pretty good (picture below) using the Hornady 143gr ELDX, Velocity from a 23" barrel 2969, 2957, 2968 (Adv vel 2960),

The Hornady 147gr ELDM load was not so good shooting 1.55" group, (Adv Vel 2910), actual vel 2887, 2896, 2881
Soon as Im off work for a cpl days I will try my handloads with 140gr AB/R26/Fed 210M primers

You either have a very fast barrel or hdy has loaded there ammo hotter.

The 143 was faster than advertised and the 147 was slower, of course I only shot a cpl groups through the rifle today, my last 24" #1 contour 1-8 twist Benchmark shot both the factory ammo at advertised velocities give or take, this barrel is 23"

Ya but yours is like 100fps faster then what I've seen even with a 26". With factory I'm just shooting 140s for deer and don't care much about speed still the load I use should still be 2900 from my 24". I can't load to not with the hornady brass other wise I get bad ejector marks.

Good shooting btw more so for factory. Hee is the test loads I shot last week, simple and cheap deer load. Hdy brass WLR primer, 140 Speer hotcor 2.850 h1000 mauser m18.

I have a 6.5 PRC built on a Sako A7 action with a 26" HawkHill 1-8 twist barrel, I ran a string of R26/Hornady Brass, 215m primers and 143gr eldx in .3gr increments
Started at 56.0 (3116fps) and went up to 58.4 and had pressure signs there at 3239fps
Best accuracy was at 56.5gr at 3140fps

H1000 was best in this same rifle at 57-57.5gr

Sounds like a nice rifle, don't think in my 24" rl26 would help if I find any. I have to pick up a chronograph some day. Like to switch to adg brass to. I'm very happy with the m18 think I'll get a 243 or a 7rm some day.
