LibreOffice and LInux Mint

I would like to propose the idea that you might want to consider LInux Mint as an alternative to Windows OS, but especially LibreOffice as an alternative to MS Office, as a method to help protect the rights of the individual.

It is pretty clear that at least 3 very wealthy people that made their money from microsoft have heavily funded anti - rights measures, such as recent ones in Washington State. One way to reduce their influence is to stop sending them money, and move away from their products.

Apple and Google are not much better, but there is a way to at least have some effect on their wallets, and that is to move away from MS Office to LibreOffice.

I started using LibreOffice about 2 years ago, entirely for economic reasons, but over time it became clear that I was growing tired of the direction of windows software, and using LibreOffice enabled an easy conversion to "something else".

If you have not used LibreOffice, it is very similar to MS Office, but instead of spending $300-500 a seat to MicroSoft and their anti-rights leaders, you can use that money on what ever you want.

LibreOffice works just fine on Windows 7 Pro on my laptop, and my daughter has used it on Win 8 and Win 10 with no issues. It also works on Mac and various versions of Linux.

Even if you keep using Mac or Windows at your company, moving to Libreoffice will save your company a bunch of money, and help with the rights of the individual. In case you are wondering, I routinely send files back and forth with customers and suppliers that the latest version of MS Office and I can work with their files just fine, and they also can work with mine. Don't let the "it won't work / compatibility" Bogey man scare you off.

If you are willing to go just one step further, and use Linux Mint, you can go completely off of the MS bandwagon and hit their market share.

I am not a computer expert at all, but I can tell you that Linux Mint behaves very similarly to Wind 7 Pro, it just happens to be free. The conversion went very fast and was easy. In my particular case, I am using the "mate" interface version, but you can choose the other versions as well.

In case you are wondering, I don't have any skin in this except for it's potential to help keep your own money in your own pocket, and to help protect individual rights.

Ever try Open office.
Hard to beat linux.
Suse linux worked so well Bill Gates had to buy into it to keep windows server alive.
