Let see those deer rifles

Have the same rifle (inherited). How did you get the scope mounted? I'd love to put one on but don't want to permanently alter the rifle.

Sorry for not responding in a more timely manner. Dad had a Weaver flip over mount which surprisingly never lost POI. The smith had to weld the existing holes over because they didn't match up with the holes in the Leopold bases I had purchased and one of the holes would be not be covered by the new bases. After grinding the welds, he drilled and tapped new holes and reblued the area. The work was beautifully done, but I wish I had left it the way dad had it.

I have a Ruger American in .308 in a MDT Chassis, w/ a Nikon M.223 3-12X42 600BC , the limb saver recoil pad makes it feel like a .22...almost. I also put a lighter MCARBO spring in the Trigger, stock trigger was pretty good, but the lighter trigger is awesome. I'

This doe just happened to walk out and get her evening ration of salt as I was taking the above photo. Kinda fitting for this thread...

.....and while not necessarily a "deer rifle" I'll have to knock one off with this thing this year just to get the 'new stink' off of it.

Here's mine. First one is my semi custom .284 Norma Match, built on a Remington 700 long action, fitted with a 26" Bartlein #3 1-8 twist 5R barrel with a blended Hawkins Precision brake. It has a Remington special edition laminated ADL stock that's been pillar and skim bedded with Devcon. It's topped with a 4-16x44 Vortex HS-T in a set of Hawkins Precision Hybrid rings. It loves Berger 175gr Elite Hunters and RL23 in Peterson brass going 2850FPS.
