1982(IIRC) Browning BAR 3006, also hunt with a 2001 mkII safari 3006 I like almost as much, but the 82 is the softest shooting rifle I've ever touched. I have a personal idea that the gas port may be sized slightly off, or perhaps it was just a perfection of tolerances on the day it was built. The newer safari is no slouch either, and is the only rifle I've ever shot a whitetail hat trick with, what a night of cleaning.

To me that's a great pic! Nice add to this thread. Shows the whole hunt, plus the gun.

Nicely done!

I have always been wanting a BAR Safari Grade IV in .243. Just because!

Here's a sampling of mine left to right. Wby. Altitude in 6.5 CRDM (130 Accubond); Cooper Custom Classic in .243 (24" bbl). My go to bullet in that is an 85 grain Sierra HPBT for deer and chucks and a Cooper Jackson Game in .25-06 (115 Nosler for deer, 90 grain Sierra Blitzking for chucks).
