I've got a couple to post I'm addicted to smokeless ML's my first is a switch barrel Lone peak Razor Ti 30" Brux Asg plug McMillan A5

The second is a savage long action 30"brux my own breach plug ASG module the rifle doubles as a 458 LOTT

Both push 300 grain Pittmans over 3000fps in to great groups
My carry ML is a savage 10 with a 18" barrel Asg plug was still able to hit 2650fps with 250 grainers

Any details on "rolling your own"?
I would like to build a switch barrel platform/system.
I only have a Zermatt/BigHorn SS TL3 short action for components so far.
Probably best to use a magnum action?

Here is mine I just got back. Defiance rebel, Brux 20" barrel, Manner EH4 stock jewell trigger. Shoots Pittman 278gr bullet 2830 FPS. First target 3@100 second is 4@200.

Can I ask what powder charge is pushing those Pittmans?
I shoot the 325s over 73.5gr of 4198....the accuracy is nothing short of amazing.
You're gonna love yours....great looking and a tack driver.

It shot as well with 328 gr Pittman but recoil was worse and velocity was at 2630. I went with the increase velocity.

This is my second McWhorter built smokeless. The first was about 10yrs ago and required a plastic sabot. Not the case with this one.

Shoots better than I can shoot it....current load is 73.5g of imr-4198, pushing a 325gr Pittman Aeromax @ 2850fps. It's a 1 ragged hole special at 100yds, and I've shot under .5moa out to 400yds.....and I'm hardly a long range sniper. The recoil is a little stiff compared to my .280ai, but I have more confidence shooting this than any other rifle I own.

I wouldn't mind scaling back the recoil on mine....maybe I'm getting old and soft, but it really punishes me.
The guys who built mine are now shooting the same bullet at +\- 3200fps, but it requires like 104gr of 4198. I can't imagine taking the beating it's bound to give.

I am having another one built a little lighter. I feel that 2800 is enough to put the hammer down. This one weighs 10lb 2oz with optics.

I love the shorter barrel with yours....it doesn't cost u much speed, and much easier to handle in a tree or a blind.

If I ever get rid of mine, I think I'll do a titanium action and carbon barrel.....maybe drop down to a much lighter bullet to curtail the recoil of a lighter build.

I am building a carbon barreled 22" Barrel is ordered I have action in hand. Stock is also ordered. I am thinking it will be in the 9lb range.

Yeah they charge a premium....it's always top shelf and u know it will shoot. But buying the components and having a good builder do the work is def more economical.
I bought mine from Allan, who's the owner. He had built it and used it on 3 or 4 trips. I needed one in a hurry and it was mine. I'd like to have a 20 or 22" barrel though.

You will never go back to a 26" I don't think. Way more comfortable.
