Let’s see those Smokeless builds!!

You guys are killin me…..I'm gonna have to sell my conversion so I can get down to 'serious business' with this stuff. It's kinda like the following quote…🤣😂

Ulysses Everett McGill:
"No thank you, Delmar. One third of a gopher would only arouse my appetite without bedding it down."

You won't have to look too far for a buyer for your conversion…. I'll take it with the green stock please. 😎😂😂

same with me , buddies looking every where for savage short actions to use, it is crazy simple to make one heck of a shooter, about 850.00 total to get one running if you have a stock, my nut gun at 67grains of h4198 was steel every shot at 600, crazy for a front loader

I was gonna wait to post when I get the barrel back from LRI. Getting it diamond fluted and cerakoted to match the action. Shoots descent groups with 300 gr XLD's with 102 gr H4895 smooth sized at 3100 fps. The two groups shown are from choosing a charge weight. The bottom group is 101 gr and the top 102 gr. 100 gr was under 1/2 MOA as well. I decided it was a waste to chase a little more velocity and called it good. This is a Prefit Bartlein HV barrel with the ASG plug. Marker is just to cover up the tears in the paper. This thing has already claimed over 300 inches of bone on two Kansas whitetails.
I'm probably gonna build another one with a #6 brux or an HCA Carbon on an AnTI action and LRH manners stock. Aiming for 9lbs or so.

Those. Brux barrels and Pittman bullets are a very accurate combination!! Are you running 4198 powder and a large rifle primer? That velocity has to give you energy on a.deer to 500 yds.

What barrel are you running with the savage action that comes out to 850? Also what ignition system you running for this budget? I ask because I budgeted about twice that for just the barrel, action and ignition, which is why I would prefer to go the conversion route to get my feet wet first.

Oh, man……you'll end up just like me if you go that route……hungry for more!!! The load in my conversion is 62gr IMR4198, Eastern Maine wool wad and a 275gr Fury which averages (3 shots) 2,482 FPS. Even the recommended Max charge of 65gr does not (in my rifle) break 2,600 FPS. 😐

Got my rig! Mounted a Zeiss V4 6x24 on it.. shots 6-8 after zeroing the scope, shot off bipod (Harris) on the ground..

112 grains of BH 209, Arrowhead 300 XLD @100 yds - 2508 FPS.

Next time I go out, will let 300 Pitman aeromax fly - Atlas now mounted- hope to get all three in the same hole!

Congratulations! That's great velocity too. I found the XLD's are more accurate. Are you using a wool wad???
